Aaron Ramsey capped off a brilliant week with a brace as Arsenal downed Fenerbahce 2-0 at the Emirates. Arsenal now advance into the group stage of the Champions League with an aggragate score of 5-0 following the 0-3 win in Turkey.
Pre-match
Nacho Monreal earned a start ahead of Keiran Gibbs at the left back position with Jenkinson starting in the other full back position whilst Sagna filled in for the injured Koscielny. Ramsey, Wilshere and Cazorla made the midfield triangle as the Gunner's started with the three-pronged attack of Podolski, Giroud and Walcott.
Arsenal started strongly with Santi Cazorla creating a chance for Giroud. However, the breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Aaron Ramsey found the net. Podolski played Theo Walcott though the middle before the England international just managed to squeeze the ball past the onrushing keeper to Ramsey. He took the easy chance to open the scoring, sweeping the ball into the empty net. Ramsey's and Arsenal's second of the night came in the 71st minute after a great team move allowed Gibbs to cross low to Ramsey, who wrapped the game up with an exquisite side footed volley into the bottom corner.
Man of the Match
Aaron Ramsey - His two goals powered Arsenal into the group stages of the Champions league, with his second being world class. But it was his general play that stood out on the night. He has come out of his shell in recent weeks and is subsequently enjoying the form of his life, showing immense goal scoring ability and levels of creativity unseen from him before.
Injury news
Jack Wilshere and Lukas Podolski both picked up knocks during the game, with the latter confirmed to be out for at least 3 weeks. Otherwise, Arsenal are in good form for the upcoming Derby against Spurs on the weekend, although some signings are needed.
